Description
3/16/26 - This is a Colt Police Positive .38 from 1931. It is all matching, is plated in real silver, and has scrollwork engraving throughout. The name "Oscar G. Olander" is inscribed on the left side of the frame. Olander operated a sporting goods and firearms business in New York City, a major hub for the import and sale of firearms during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It is unusual to see his full name inscribed on the gun, so this gun may have been presented by or to him personally (imported guns are typically stamped with a simple "O.G. Olander"). We have no other information on it, so we can't say for sure. Either way, the gun is in nice condition overall. The silver shows tarnish and discoloration throughout, but this is typical. It comes fitted with beautiful real ivory grips and comes in a wood presentation case. Excellent, shiny bore with great rifling.
