5/7/26- For sale is an American 37mm artillery shell dated 1918. The 37mm gun was a light infantry support cannon used during WWI to destroy light enemy fortifications like machinegun positions. This model of cannon was also mounted in some of the very earliest tanks. The base of the shell is marked "1 18" indicating January 1918 production. The shell and casing both have moderate patina but no notable damage. The casing is inscribed with "Montfaucon 1918". Research indicates that Montfaucon was a village captured by American troops during the Meuse–Argonne offensive in late 1918. Overall in excellent condition.
