SOLD - ANIB 1968 Colt Trooper - .357 Magnum

9/22/26 - This is an exceptional, as-new-in-box Colt Trooper revolver manufactured in 1968 and chambered in .357 Magnum. Featuring a 4” barrel, adjustable square-notch rear sight, serrated ramp front sight. Impeccable quality reflects the unmistakably premium, hand-fitted treatment characteristic of Colt's 60s-era revolvers. The left side of the barrel is marked “TROOPER .357 / .357 MAGNUM CTG.”, the right side is marked “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.”, the left sideplate bears the Rampant Colt, and the crane and crane cut are both numbered to the gun. It retains virtually all of its original blue finish, showing only a very faint cylinder turn line and essentially no other notable wear. All the markings are factory crisp and the screw heads remain completely unmarred. The two-piece checkered target grips with silver Rampant Colt medallions are similarly mint, with perfectly sharp checkering and no chips or cracks. The bore is mint, and the mechanics are excellent, with tight lockup at each chamber. Trigger is excellent, with a smooth double-action pull and a crisp single-action break. It comes with its matching (numbered on the back) Colt woodgrain box, Colt-branded takedown tool, and original sales paperwork. This 1968 example dates to the final two years of the original hand-fitted Trooper design, shortly before Colt replaced it with the redesigned Trooper Mark III. This is a stunning time capsule piece from a bygone era when quality mattered more than profits.

Introduced in 1953, the original Trooper was Colt’s premium medium-frame service and sporting revolver, sharing the company’s traditional V-spring lockwork and much of the same basic mechanical architecture found in the Python, but with a simpler barrel profile and exterior treatment.
