9/24/26 - This is an excellent 1940 Walther PP offered in its matching original woodgrain box with spare magazine, cleaning rod, Walther equipment tin, cleaning cloth, and manual. The left side of the slide bears the Walther banner, two-line address, patent and caliber markings, and “Mod PP”, with eagle/N commercial proofs on the muzzle, chamber hood, and slide. The slide houses a loaded chamber indicator, a desirable factory feature identified on the box by the “Signalstift” label. It has the correct features for this variation, including ring hammer, 60-degree safety, and flawless black checkered grips. 1940 was the last year Walther applied the initial, stunning high-polish bluing process without quality degradation. This pistol retains about 97-98% of that original finish, with minor high edge and muzzle wear, and an area of finish loss on the bottom of the backstrap. There are also a few light scattered surface scratches on the slide flats, which aren't deep enough to remove bluing, and a few tiny dings on the right side of the trigger guard. The bore is minty. The matching box is in good condition with some glued repairs. The internal dividers are also mostly in good shape, and though they have torn free within the box, they can likely still be used functionally with a bit of setup. There is light edge damage to the numbered label, but it remains mostly intact and is clearly numbered to the pistol. This listing also includes two excellent, correct Walther banner magazines: one flat bottom, and one with a black plastic extension.
