Description
6/16/26 - This is an excellent example of a Star Model SS chambered in .380 ACP. The Star Model S lineage dates back to the late 1930s when it was developed as a scaled-down, locked-breech clone of the legendary 1911. While originally designed for the civilian market, the model quickly earned a rugged military pedigree and was officially adopted as a compact sidearm for the Spanish Air Force and the Spanish Foreign Legion. The "SS" variant specifically denotes the addition of a magazine disconnect safety. This particular commercial example wears Star’s proprietary "Starvel" finish, a matte electroless nickel treatment designed to provide superior durability and corrosion resistance. The pistol retains approximately 98% of its original finish. Most of the finish loss is thinning of the grip straps, with scattered light scuffs and minor surface scratches along the slide flats. The smooth wood grips are in excellent condition and show no cracks or chips. The listing includes two total magazines, one magazine features a standard blued finish and the other features the matching Starvel finish. The latter's baseplate is not fully flush with the button underneath the tube, but the magazine release is tight and a bit finicky. Minty bore, shiny with sharp rifling and just a bit of frost in the grooves.
