Description
6/24/26 - This is an incredibly rare, pre-ban 1983 Colt SP1 considered to be a holy grail for many retro AR-15 collectors, featuring the highly sought-after factory original electroless nickel finish. Colt produced a strictly limited run of only about 1,000 of these distinct rifles exclusively during the 1983 production year, and this specific example falls perfectly within the documented serial number range. As the first civilian iteration of Eugene Stoner’s M16 design, a standard early SP1 is already a coveted classic, but this exceptionally scarce nickel variant elevates it to an entirely different echelon of collectibility. The rifle remains in excellent overall condition, preserving the stunning factory finish while exhibiting some minor surface scuffs and scratches visible on the receiver. It features all the proper early hallmarks, including the original A1 fixed buttstock and classic retro triangular handguards. Mechanically, the rifle is excellent, and it features a minty, bright bore with strong rifling. It also comes with a vintage black canvas sling.
