Description
9/30/25 - This is an Imperial Russian WWI M1907 “Bebut” Artillery Kindjal short sword with matching scabbard, dated 1917 and regimentally marked, produced at the famed Zlatoust Arms Factory. The curved blade retains an excellent, razor-sharp edge profile with proper markings and only mild surface patina, while the wood grip, lightly sanded with natural darkening from age, remains excellent aside from a slight wiggle at the brass collar. The scabbard shows honest service wear with a bit of material loss in a couple areas, light cracking to the leather, scattered dings, and oxidation to the fittings. Adopted in 1907 to replace the cumbersome shashka, the Bebut was first issued to military police and later to machine gun crews and artillerymen, serving extensively throughout World War I before being retired after the 1917 Revolution as obsolete in modern combat. Despite questions over its utility as a sidearm, the Bebut proved highly effective for artillery and machine gun crews in clearing positions and was formidable in close-quarters fighting. This well-marked and regimentally stamped example, complete with its original scabbard, represents a scarce and highly sought-after Imperial Russian sidearm.
