Type: | SS Dagger |
Condition: | Very Good |
Description
7/25/25 - Here is an early SS dagger made by Herder. The handle of the dagger has a uniform black paint covering without showing much thinning. There are some dings and dents on the wood as is expected with age. The eagle on the grip is placed slightly lower on this example compared to other SS daggers which is correct for a Herder made dagger. The pommel and crossguard are in nice shape and have a dull nickel finish due to age. The crossguard is stamped with an "I" signifying this blade went to the Munich SS group. The blade of the dagger is in nice shape with a clear Herder stamp and a nice motto etch. The scabbard is in excellent condition, however it has been painted black with period correct paint. The scabbard would have originally had an anodized finish that are known to thin easily.
