Description
6/5/25 - This is a very nice example of a US martially-marked Colt Model 1851 revolver from 1857. At some point, it was "cut away" in several spots to show the inner workings of the gun. We do not believe this was done at the factory. It is all matching except for the loading lever. Overall, the gun is in really nice condition for its age. The cylinder scene shows about 90% visibility, there is a fair amount of bluing remaining, and there is still some case-hardening visible on the loading lever. Both grips show visible military cartouches. The bore has really nice rifling for its age, but there is some light surface rust. Although the gun is fully functional, this is a cutaway, and we do not recommend firing it. This is an antique, so no FFL is required.
