Description
9/29/25 - For sale is a Remington Model 1891 Mosin Nagant originally produced for the Imperial Russian Army during WW1. After the October Revolution, the Communist Russian government would default on its contract with Remington & New England Westinghouse. The US Government would purchase many of the leftover guns and issue them to domestic troops like the National Guard.
The rifle has an aged blued finish, turning a brownish tint with patina. The stock shows many dings and handling marks. The left side of the stock is stamped with the Russian Acceptance Roundel for the American-made rifle. The right side has a ПК in a Circle. This example lacks any acceptance stamps from the US military, like the flaming bomb or Eagle Head. The bore is on the darker side, but the rifling is still strong. The rifle is still full matching as it was from the factory. The rifle has matching numbers on the barrel shank, bolt body, cocking piece/safety, buttplate, and magazine floor plate. The small parts are all stamped with a R in a circle for Remington. There is no markings of Finnish, Spanish, or Bulgarian rework. Interstingly, there is a wood dowel & Screw inserted behind the magazine floorplate latch to keep the magazine locked closed.
