Description

02/25/26 - For sale is a Springfield Model 1879 Trapdoor chambered in .45-70 Gov't. The rifle was originally made in 1874 but was updated to 1879 specs. It has a nicely aged finish with the metal turning a dark grey with brown patina. The stock shows pressure dents and handling wear, but no cracks or breaks. There is an 1884 inspection mark on the left side. The bore is bright with strong rifling, and there is some spotting of pitting about 2 inches from the muzzle.
