Description
9/29/25 - This is an original WWII issue leather M3 shoulder holster for the Colt M1911 adopted in 1942 and favored by aircraft crews, tank crews, and officers, with many finding their way into combat regardless of regulation. This example is in fairly good condition, with a rich aged brown tone from use and exposure, with leather still soft and pliable but showing light wrinkling overall and some deeper cracking on the shoulder strap that is not yet structurally compromising, though care should be taken to prevent tearing. The front is embossed “U.S.” and the reverse is clearly stamped “U.S. / ENGER-KRESS,” though there is also faint black marker writing beneath the logo that is difficult to make out. All original brass snaps and buckles remain intact and functional with much of their original blackened finish, though green oxidation is visible around the snap perimeters.
