9/23/26 - This is an exceptional late-production Belgian Browning Model 1910/55, serial number 624316, manufactured in 1969, the final year of production for this variation, and chambered in .380 ACP. The left side of the slide is marked “BROWNING ARMS COMPANY ST LOUIS MO & MONTREAL PO / MADE IN BELGIUM”, the right side of the frame shows the serial number, and the chamber is marked “Cal. 9mm” with proper Liege proofs. It has a 3.25-in barrel, low fixed front blade, and characteristic rear sighting trough machined into the slide. The pistol is in positively flawless condition, retaining all of its deep high-polish blue finish with no meaningful wear, loss, or handling marks. Even the trigger, breech area, and barrel surface beneath the ejection port remain entirely free of visible wear. The rear grip safety was clearly heat treated differently from the rest of the gun, resulting in a gorgeous plum hue that perfectly contrasts with the polished blue frame/slide and matte black grips/trigger. The factory black plastic grip panels are flawless, with no chips, cracks, or handling wear. The bore is utterly pristine and appears unfired. Mechanics and fit are flawless, featuring a factory-tight slide, strong recoil spring, smooth operation, and an excellent trigger. It comes with one 6-round magazine.

Developed by Fabrique Nationale in Belgium and designed by John Browning, the Model 1910 was the predecessor to the later Model 1922 and became one of Browning’s most influential compact semi-automatic pistol designs. Its historical significance cannot be overstated: an FN Model 1910 was used by Gavrilo Princip to assassinate Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and his wife Sophie in Sarajevo on June 28, 1914, the event that directly precipitated the First World War and forever tied the design to one of the defining moments of the 20th century. The later 1910/55 or “New Model” continued that same basic Browning design for the commercial market and remains important to collectors for both its mechanical lineage and its place in the development of modern self-loading pistols.
