Description
5/12/26 - This is a rare and highly desirable Colt Super .38 that was manufactured in 1929, the first year or production. One of the first 5,000 produced, this example was shipped to Von Lengerke & Antoine in Chicago. VL&A was famously associated with the Prohibition-era gangsters of the time, with Thompson machine guns used in the St. Valentine's Day Massacre traced back to their store. They later merged with Abercrombie & Fitch of New York, as well.
The pistol is all original with correct barrel and matching numbered slide. The original blue rates at around 95% with an area of finish loss on the front strap, and wear around either side of the muzzle. Excellent, shiny bore. The original wood grips are also in great shape with only a few minor dimples. Correct, two-tone Colt Super mag. Listing comes with the Colt archive letter.
