Description
01/06/26 - For sale is a K-Date Sauer K98k made in 1934. These rifles were the first year of the K98k's official production prior to being adopted by the German Military in 1935. Roughly 10,000 units were made. The rifle has a nice aged finish throughout the metal with patina and oxidation. There are some shallow cratering from corrosion visible, but nothing heavy to note. The stock is in excellent condition overall without any cracks. The right side of the stock is stamped with the Eagle H, and Waffenamts 49 and 115. The bottom of the wrist is stamped with an Eagle/114. Bottom of the stock is stamped with the serial number, cursive O?, and Eagle/115. The top of the handguard is stamped. The barrel bands have little to no finish left, and there are small touch-ups of cold blue. The bore is has bright lands with strong rifling, but there is old oxidation visible in the grooves. Installed is a muzzle cover marked Eagle/214 and an S. The band springs are marked with an "s". The Buttplate is RFV Marked, and this example is noted in Bruce Karem and Michael Steves' Book "Karabiner 98k".
