Description
2/26/26- For sale is a WW2 era Japanese Type 90 combat helmet. The Type 90 was Japan's standard combat helmet and saw service all across the Pacific during the war. This helmet has significant wear and patina on the exterior but the color is still mostly the original military paint. The wear and paint loss has revealed the bare metal in multiple spots but there does not appear to be damaging rust. The star emblem on the front of the helmet is a badge that is pinned into the helmet, which is the appropriate construction method for these helmets. The interior of the helmet still has the original three-padded pigskin liner. The liner is attached with rings riveted to the shell, which is the correct construction method and pigskin was a commonly used liner material. The liner shows good aging and some of the leather is stiff but the liner is intact without serious damage. There is a Japanese character on the back rim of the shell that designates the size as "large". There are some spots of more notable rust inside the shell and especially underneath the liner but they are mostly hidden and will not seriously impact the display value of the helmet. Overall in good condition.
