6/2/26- For sale is a WWI Iron Cross. The Iron Cross is the most famous German military award and millions were awarded for heroism or dedicated service during WWI. The cross is composed of an iron core surrounded by a silver frame. The front side of the cross has a crown, the letter W for Kaiser Wilhelm, and the year 1914, the first year of WWI. The back of the cross has oak branches, the year 1813 symbolizing the first issue of the Iron Cross, and the letters FW under a crown, commemorating king Frederick William who awarded the first Iron Cross. The cross has mild wear and patina but no serious damage. The ribbon is missing but the original ring is still attached. Overall in very good condition.
