Description

6/6/18 - This is an excellent unmodified original example of the WWII best designed infantry rifle - an M1 Garand, made in 1944 and  chambered in 30.06 caliber. This is an all original and all correct rifle that had not been rearsenaled and retains ~90% of its parkerizing and has all the correct parts with appropriate “drawing” numbers.  The receiver and barrel show excellent finish for the most part, but the gas cylinder appears to be largely missing finish or have never been finished.  The barrel is dated 5/44 which matches the year of production of the receiver. Very good unrefinished wood with nice ordnance wheel cartouche and SA GAW acceptance marking next to it. There are no cracks present but there are some nicks and scratches appropriate for a battle used rifle. A rack number is painted on the buttstock. Everything on this rifle is original WWII Springfield Armory, including the lock-bar rear sight. Very few of the unmodified WWII M1 Garands exist as the vast majority had gone through an Arsenal update at least once in the past 70 years.
