Description
12/29/25 - This is a nice example of a Springfield Model 1884 Trapdoor Rifle, chambered in .45-70 Govt. The serial number on the receiver dates it to 1885, but there is a military cartouche on the left side of the stock that appears to be dated 1893. The lock plate is properly marked "US Springfield" with the iconic Springfield Eagle. This particular example also comes with a front sight hood and reproduction leather sling. Overall, the gun is in nice condition for its age, but there is visible brown patina on most of the parts and some spotty discoloration on the breech block. Some pitting on the butt plate. The stock has no major damage, but there are noticeable bruises, dings, and scratches throughout. "P" proof around the wrist. The bore has pretty good rifling for its age, but there is minor pitting throughout. Fully functional. No FFL required.
