Description

2/17/26- For sale is a bayonet for the 1873 Trapdoor Springfield. The bluing on the blade is generally nice, with some spots of patina but no serious damage or evidence or sharpening. The socket of the bayonet has more notable patina and some spots of rust and pitting, indicating that the bayonet must have been stored in the scabbard for many years. The bayonet is marked "US" and there is also a smaller "T" mark. The scabbard also has some wear and loss of finish, with more noticeable rust and wear under where the frog sits, indicating long term storage and moisture retention by the leather. The frog is intact with belt hook. The back of the frog is marked "40" and "M.S.". Overall in good condition.
