Description
10/14/26 - This is a near-mint example of an incredibly rare SA stamped Akah holster designated for the Sauer 38h. In addition to the rarity of this SA holster itself, the unparalleled condition of this particular item makes it a must-have for any serious collector. The dark brown leather on this holster has retained nearly all of its original finish and has remained sturdy yet pliable in its entirety. The top flap bears a beautiful, crisp SA stamp with very minor hints of thinning, most notably in the corner of the "S" and near the left of the stamp's perimeter. There is some light finish wear on the edges of the leather top flap, primarily on the left and right side. The aluminum securing knob is tight with no play, and has retained most of its color-matching paint, with most loss existing on the face of the knob where the closure strap would pass over. The "hinge" area of the top flap shows some very fine signs of finish cracking, though these have led to almost no color loss at all. The front closure strap is in excellent shape with only minor loss present surrounding the opening of the closure button hole on the strap. Despite the finish loss on the strap, there are no signs of any ripping or tearing on the leather itself. Underneath the closure strap is an excellent, crisp DRGM Akah maker's mark. It is common for these stamps to be worn away due to their placement sitting right below the closure strap knob. However, this particular example shows no signs of wear on the leather where the stamp is. The front magazine pouch on this holster is in excellent condition, retaining a great structure and a strong decorative indentation line on the face of the holster. The bottom corners of the holster show some hints of color thinning, primarily on the left corner, though this wear does not seem to penetrate beyond the exterior coating. There is a line indentation on the holster just above the spare magazine pouch, which is common from the baseplate of the spare magazine carried in the pouch. Near the muzzle of the holster, there are minor hints of thinning near the front of the holster, and a small spot of thinning from where the front sight of the 38h would sit in the holster. The back of the holster is in excellent shape with a light series of indentations sparsely present on the back leather, though very minimal actual finish loss. The only color loss present on the back of the holster exists as some light thinning on the top of the belt loop, mostly on the right side of the loop. On the interior of the holster, underneath the top flap is a beautiful, crisp "Sauer 7.65" model designation ink stamp. The thread on this holster is all present and has retained its color well. There are no signs of any pulling, tearing, or missing threads on this holster. Overall, this is one of the nicest SA Sauer holsters that you will see still existing to this day.
