Date Added: 8/16/12 - Picked this one up at the NAPCA show from an advanced collector. We discussed it at length and agree that this is a very early Police issued gun. Excellent high polish original finish. Someone painted the Walther banner - very well done. We both decided to leave it alone but I am sure it could be removed with a little oil and a soft brush. I have seen this paint in the banner a fair number of times on both PP's and PPK's. The magazine is numbered on the spine. We do not think this is an SS gun, but before they started marking PP's with the Eagle C or F, they still issued guns to the Police. The numbering on the spine is "roll stamped" as evidenced by very slight dimpling around the numbers. I have seen this before on magazines that were numbered in the police arsenal. So I have to conclude that this is a unique PP probably issued to a larger city police force - in the 1930's.Specifications
