Description
02/09/26 - For sale is a US Contract Enfield Pattern 1853 made in 1863 for the Union Army during the US Civil War. The rifle retains a nice dark finish with notable finish loss. The lock plate is stamped 1863 and a US Eagle. The stock is in good shape with small cracks visible along the buttstock and stemming from the rear screw on the left side of the stock. The bore is dark. The rifle comes with a socket bayonet that is well oxidized. Also included is a packet by a former owner explaing this rifle was originally owned by Pvt Jonathan L Allison of the 165th Pennsylvania Infantry during the US Civil War. While we are unable to verify if this rifle actually belonged to this soldier, it is included to stay with the rifle.
