Description
11/4/26 - This is a U.S. military large ALICE field pack with its aluminum frame. ALICE (All-purpose Lightweight Individual Carrying Equipment) was adopted by the U.S. Army in 1973 and served as the standard load-carrying system from the late Vietnam era through the 1990s and beyond, and the large field pack remains a favorite with collectors and outdoorsmen alike. This example is olive drab nylon, stenciled "US" on the flap, with three external pockets, a drawstring main compartment, and the lid with its printed care instructions. It is mounted on the aluminum pack frame with padded shoulder straps and the waist strap and kidney pad. The pack shows honest use, with fading, staining and scattered white paint specks, particularly on the lid, along with some frayed straps. The frame and straps remain functional. A solid, functional ALICE pack with its frame for the collector or field use.
