Description
7/22/26 - This is a Colt New Navy Model 1895 Double Action .38 Revolver from 1898. The butt is marked with the serial number, trident marking, and the Navy property number. It is matching throughout. According to the included Colt Factory letter, it left the factory with this "N248" Navy property marking and was shipped to a Commanding Officer in the 2nd Naval Battalion in New York on April 29, 1898 - a shipment of 50 guns. This one has retained roughly 85% of its original high polish finish. The actual finish loss is concentrated on the grip straps and around the high edges. While there isn't a ton of actual finish loss, there is honest spotty patina on much of the gun and some light scratches here and there. Fitted with correct black hard rubber grips. Mint bore. It also comes with a period-correct canvas holster. There is a Naval Eagle/Anchor closure button on the front. There is a slit cut into the back. This is an antique, so no FFL is required.
