Description
11/5/26 - This is a very nice example of a scarce commemorative visitor's pin from the 1936 Berlin Olympics which was manufactured by Werner Redo out of Saarlautern, Germany. The 1936 Olympics were infamously a display of Nazi organizational ability and propaganda, immortalized in the film Olympia. Victories by American athletes like Jesse Owens disrupted Hitler's idea of a display of Aryan superiority. The pin is white enameled and shows the Brandenburg Gate and the Olympic rings. The bottom right ring on the Olympic rings has two small areas of enamel loss, though the rest of the pin has a beautiful color and finish. The back has an attachment pin and maker's mark. Overall in very good condition.
