Description
9/25/26 - This is a very nice example of a black leather Luger holster manufactured by Karl Barth in 1942. The leather on this holster has remained sturdy yet pliable with no signs of any rips or tears. The top right corner of the lid shows some light surface dings with scarce finish loss, though no damage seems to penetrate the outer layer. Across the front of the lid, there is a horizontal line in the finish, though there is no finish loss. The front of the holster near the muzzle has a scratch (roughly 2") that appears to have lead to some finish loss that was then re-dyed to match the holster. The front strap on this Luger holster is strong and fastens well, though it does show some cracking near the center buckle hole. The bottom left corner of the magazine pouch shows some light surface scratches and some misshaping. The back of the holster is in excellent shape with very minimal blemishing. The top right corner of the back of the holster bears the "P.08" model designation for the holster, and in between the belt loops is the "dla / 42" manufacturer's code (Karl Barth) and production year. The military Waffenamt "WaA195" military inspection proof is stamped to the right of the maker's mark. On the underside of the lid on the bottom left corner, there is an ink stamp "253" and on the bottom right is the ink stamp "137". Inside of the holster behind the magazine pouch is an ink stamp that reads "191". The stitching on this holster is in excellent shape with no signs of pulling or ripped threads. Overall this is a very nice Luger hoslter.
