Very Nice Japanese Type 99 Arisaka 4x Scope Case

Description

10/12/26 - This is a very nice example of a WWII-era Japanese Type 99 Arisaka scope case for the 4x sniper scope. The exterior on this case is in great condition with a canvas structure with an olive drab rubberized finish. The finish on the case shows some high-edge wear which has worn through some of the rubberized coating, though the canvas has not been worn through. On the left edge of the front of the case, there is a line (~1") of what appears to be red paint wrapping around the edge. The front securing strap is present and securely fastened, though there is some cracking in the finish from use. The leather hinge on the back of the lid also shows heavy wear, though it is still secured with no signs of ripping or tearing. Overall, the leather on this case is pliable and while it shows no signs of rips or tears, has lost some of its rigidity. The metal bracket on the back of the case is still securely fastened to the back of the case with no damage to the leather strap adhering it to the case. The canvas carrying strap is intact with no ripping or tearing. There are some areas of discoloration on the strap, and an area where it looks like characters have been ink stamped into the canvas, however those stamps are not legible. All of the stitching on this case is present with no signs of any pulling or missing threads. The inside of the case has all of the proper wooden scope securing brackets, many have retained a majority of their original felt covering to protect the finish of the scope. All structural screws are present and secure. Overall this is a very nice Type 99 4x scope case.
