Description
11/2/26 - This is a very nice example of a WWII armorers replacement Luger magazine that was manufactured by Mauser between 1939 and 1942. The baseplate is stamped "42" towards the front of the baseplate, which was Mauser's production code (from 1934 to early 1939 it was S/42, then in the Spring of 1939, they dropped the "S/" and just kept the "42"). Towards the rear of the bottom of the baseplate bears the Stick Eagle 655 (SE/655) military acceptance proof. The lack of serialization on this baseplate indicates that it was an armorers replacement from the factory. The finish on this tube is in nice condition and has retained a majority of its original finish. The magazine has some striations of finish loss on the front of the magazine, as well as some spotting near the spine on the right side, and some wear on the spine itself which appears to be from use. The baseplate is in very nice condition with no sings of any damage or functionality issues. The follower has smooth travel throughout the tube and the spring has remained strong yet responsive. Overall this is a very nice "42" code Luger magazine.
