Description
10/23/2024 - For sale is a rare example of a Bergmann 1896 No3 pistol chambered in 6.5mm Bergmann. The Bergmann series of pistols was a competitor to the Mauser C96 and Borschardt C-93 pistol. The Bergmann was not as popular as the C96 but still has seen plenty of sales. The Model 1896 was made under license by Charles V Schilling of Suhl. There were roughly 4400 No3 pistols produced.
The pistol is in great condition overall with much of its original bluing remaining. Many parts of the pistol have started to brown with age and there is finish loss on the frame and barrel. There are spots of freckling visible but they are not deep. The bore is fairly bright but there is pitting visible. With the slide locked back, there is a dark brown crust of surface rust around the chamber and feed ramp. The grips are in good condition without any cracks or breaks.¬
