Description

7/27/26 - This is a very rare trophy from the 1932 motorcycle trial race "Rund um Berlin." The chalice stands at about 12" tall and 5" wide. The front of the chalice is engraved "Ehrenpreis" which translates to Honorary Award. Below that it is engraved "Rund um Berlin /  1932" which means "Around Berlin / 1932". Above the engravings it bears a black oval insignia with a skull in the center. Surrounding the skull, it has "MvD" which stands for "Motorradclub von Deutschland" which translates to "Motorcycle Club of Germany." This German motorcycle organization operated as an association for motorcycle riders during the Weimar Era. The bottom insignia below the engraving bears "E.V. MSB." In this insignia, it is believed that the small "E.V." stands for "Eingetragener Verein" which means that the "Registered Association." It is believed that the "MSB" stands for "Motorrad-Sport-Bund" which translates to "Motorcycle Sports Federation."

This is truly a one-of-a-kind opportunity to own a piece of Weimar Era, interwar German motoring history. The finish shows a beautiful even patina with excellent solder and no signs of any repairs or damage. There are some fingerprints within the patina, most likely from the chalice being stored after being handled.
