Description
8/11/26 - This is a very rare "42 Code" Mauser Luger issued to the Kriegsmarine in 1939. It is all matching with the proper "Eagle 655" military acceptance proofs on the right side of the slide. It also has an "N 3960" navy property marking on the back strap. It is in the proper y,z serial range for this variation, and they only made about 400 of this specific variation. This one is made even rarer by the added flash hider attachment around the muzzle. This exact gun belonged to Jan Still and is featured/photo'd in Figure 49b of Still's "Axis Pistols" book. According to him "The flash hider was likely intended for some special military use. British proofs located on the toggle train, frame and barrel indicate passage through a British proof house". The gun has retained somewhere between 85-90% of its original bluing. There is general high edge wear, thinning on the grip straps, some tiny marks and scratches here and there, and some spotty discoloration and pin-pricking along the barrel. Very nice bore with great rifling. The left grip panel is blank; the right is numbered but mismatched with an "Eagle 655" proof. Comes with a correct navy magazine that is not matching but very close in both serial number and Navy property marking.
