Description
2/13/26 - This is an excellent example of a very rare Mauser Banner luger rig diverted from commercial/police production to the German Army. According to The Mauser Parabellum by Don R. Hallock and Joop van de Kant, 923 pistols from this initial production contract were diverted to the Army in late 1939 and early 1940. These Lugers can be identified by a strict set certain characteristics: They all tend to have a small hole by the safety drilled for installation of a sear safety typical of police issue (though the sear safety is not actually installed on any of these Lugers). The pistols will have an Eagle N proof on the left receiver block and two Eagle 655 military acceptance stamps only on the right side of the frame. Lastly, the serial number must fall between 602x and 1547x. This pistol falls within that range (1084x). The pistol in this listing has all of the proper characteristics required for a true German Army military divert luger.
The luger is in excellent condition with about 96% of its original bluing remaining and is all matching. There is minor holster wear on high edge areas and by the muzzle. The matching-numbered wood grips are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The gun comes with two non-numbered, Eagle 655 magazines (correct for military divert). The bore shows deep rifling and has minor frosting. The holster is in mint condition and is maker marked "C. Otto Gehrckens, Leder- u. Riemenwerke, Pinneberg 1940" and has a Waffen 279 stamp next to it. The holster contains an Eagle 655 luger tool (correct for military divert).
