SOLD - Very Rare Dutch-Contract 1940 Nazi Mauser Banner Luger - Matching Magazine

7/3/21 - This is a nice example of a very rare 1940 Mauser Banner Luger. The Dutch Army and its Air Force were procuring these Lugers from Mauser between 1937-1940. Some of these guns were in the middle of production during Germany's invasion of Holland in 1940. They were seized by the Germans, given waffen military proofs, and subsequently issued to the Nazi military. The reported serial range for these guns is 2551v-3254v. They are very rare - estimated procurement is only about 600. They are dated 1940 on the chamber, have the Mauser banner logo, have "Crown U" proofs, the Dutch "Rust" safety, and bear "Eagle 655" Nazi military proofs on the right side of the side of the slide. This particular example is all matching, has all the proper characteristics, and falls in the correct serial range for this variation. It has retained roughly 85% of its original finish. Most of the wear is on the straps and on the side plate. But there are also areas of minor wear on the side rails, on the left side of the barrel, and around the muzzle. It comes with excellent un-numbered grips and a matching magazine. The bore is shiny with strong rifling with minor freckling in the grooves.
