Description
10/22/26 - For sale is a very rare Steyr VK98 "last ditch" rifle made at the end of WW2 in 1945 and chambered in 8mm Mauser (7.92x57). The receiver is marked bnz 45 for Steyr. The rifle has a nice phosphate finish that is typical of end of war rifles, with areas turning a brownish hue from age. The stock is similar to the VG-1, a large slab style stock with a sling slot cut out. There are some splits developing along the wood grain, mainly on the bottom and top of the stock. There is a stamp on the left side of the buttstock that is hard to read. The bore is bright with good rifling, with a bit of oxidation at the muzzle. There is also a counterbore. The rifle has matching numbers on the bolt and receiver.
