9/14/26 - This is a very rare, original gold presentation Iraqi Tariq pistol from the Iran War era. Modeled after the Beretta Model 70, these have been attributed as presentation items for high-ranking officers and dignitaries. We had three separate translations done on the slide legend, and received three different answers but roughly the Arabic legend on the left reads "Tariq - 7.65mm Version - Iraq". One translation also had mention of "General Infantry". The story goes that this was brought back by an Iraqi war vet in the included presentation case, but we were unable to find other examples of the case so cannot confirm its origin. The pistol is in good condition with flaking on the slide and frame but ~85% of the original gold wash remains, and it even retains the original gold-washed mag. Excellent grips show no cracks or chips, and feature the General Tariq ibn Ziyad's profile on opposing medallions on the pistols grips. General Tariq was the conqueror of Visigoth Spain in 711 AD. Strong, shiny bore. Stiff recoil spring. 32 serial numbers off the last example we sold of this variation.
