9/1/26 - This is a First Variation Walther Model 7, chambered in 6.35mm and manufactured in about 1918. About 57,000 of these pistols were made from 1915-1919. The Walther Model 7 became a popular pistol because of its compact dimensions and its product qualities. Officers and high-ranking military employees had to procure their service pistols privately. For them the Walther Model 7 was a popular defense weapon. This one is all matching and has the proper "Crown N" commercial proofs. It has retained roughly 40% of its original finish. There is honest finish loss and light spotty patina throughout, mostly on the upper. Fitted with period-correct horn grips - small chip on the left side. Excellent bore with strong rifling.
