Description
2/16/26- For sale is a nice War of 1812 era cavalry officer's saber. The blade is very long, about 34 inches. The lower 12 inches or so of the blade are darkly blued with nice etched patterns standing out from the background coloring, including floral patterns, bells, a flag, and a cannon. The rest of the blade is plain. There are spots of patina and potential rust on the blade but no serious damage, blade chips, or signs of sharpening. The brass crossguard has some patina and is marked "DH3367A" with a modern marker. The grip appears to be natural ivory. There is some wear on the handle but notable cracking or chips. The leather scabbard is worn but mostly intact. There is more significant wear at the middle of the scabbard and towards the tip. The brass fitting at the tip is missing and the middle attachment band is present but loose. The scabbard is marked "DH3367B", likely a museum inventory marking corresponding to the "A" on the sword itself. There are no noticeable manufacturer or proof marks. Overall in good condition.
