Description
7/8/21 - This is a nice example of a Colt 1911A1 issued to the US military in 1943. It is "United States Property" marked and has a "GHD" inspector proof. The slide and frame are mismatched. The slide is from about 1944. What makes this one interesting is the German proofs on the frame and slide. From research, we believe this means the gun was leftover after WW2 and issued to the German police. It was then exported to the US. It has excellent period-correct grips - the left panel has a couple of red paint streaks. It also comes with a post-war magazine. Springfield barrel, most likely replaced at the police arsenal. It has retained about 85% of its finish. There is general thinning throughout and minor wear around the muzzle and high edges of the slide. The bore is near-mint.Specifications
