Description
5/21/26 - About 50,000 Mauser C96 'Broomhandles' were imported from Germany during WWI by the Austro-Hungarian Army. This one has a "Wn 17" Austrian military acceptance proof on the barrel extension, indicating a 1917 date. There is a second "HV 38" proof below it, indicating the gun was later reworked in 1938. The gun is all matching, but the bolt handle and bolt stop have been re-numbered to match, likely when it was reworked. The gun's finish rates roughly 80-85% with spotty, somewhat scratchy wear throughout. It is concentrated mostly around the high edges, on the flat sides of the frame, and along the barrel. Small dings in the metal here and there with handling marks throughout. Fitted with matching-numbered wood grips - bruising and scratching on both sides. The bore has pretty good rifling with light pin-pricking throughout.
