SOLD - WWII-Era Japanese Good Luck Flag

Description

10/14/26 - This is an original WW2 Japanese Good Luck Flag. These flags were signed with messages for good luck and best wishes in battle. Soldiers then wore and kept these flags as mementos from their loved ones. This example is in very good condition with multiple handwritten messages, or "signatures". The flag has no rips, holes, or tears. There are a few small spots of staining which primarily appear to be from the ink getting damp and what appears to be some rust spots. The threading throughout is thin, making the flag semitransparent. Great condition stitching throughout the border, with only a few loose threads sporadically along the edge. Two corners have the original hanging threads still attached. A very nice example overall, measuring approximately 55 x 42cm.
