Description
11/5/26 - For sale is a WWII German Army officer's sword made by Eickhorn of Solingen, complete with its scabbard, Army portepee and leather hanger. The sword has the plain gilt brass hilt with a smooth P-shaped guard, backstrap and pommel cap, and the black grip is wrapped with twisted gilt wire. The nickel-plated blade is etched with the Eickhorn squirrel trademark and "Eickhorn Solingen" on the ricasso. The black-painted steel scabbard has its single hanging ring, and it comes with a brown leather hanger strap with a green leather backing tab and a nickel clip. The Army portepee has the gray and silver strap with the silver bullion knot. The blade is bright with only light handling marks, the gilt on the hilt shows wear and some toning on the guard and pommel, and the grip and wire are tight. The scabbard paint is mostly intact with scattered small chips and finish loss toward the drag, and the hanger and portepee strap show age and wear. A nice complete Army officer's sword grouping.
