Description
11/3/26 - Offered here is a WWII German Luftwaffe 2nd Model officer's dagger by Eickhorn, complete with its scabbard and hanger rings. The 2nd Model dagger was introduced in 1937 and was worn by Luftwaffe officers as part of their uniform. The blade is marked on the reverse ricasso with the "Original Eickhorn Solingen" squirrel logo. It has the classic Luftwaffe hilt, with an orange Bakelite grip wrapped in twisted wire, a pommel with a gilt swastika within oak leaves, and a detailed eagle crossguard. The reverse of the crossguard is engraved with the name "Ruth." The condition is very nice overall. The blade remains bright, with just some light handling marks. The hilt fittings retain most of their finish, with crisp detail in the eagle and oak leaves. The Bakelite grip shows a small chip toward the top, and the wire wrap is tight. The scabbard retains most of its gray finish, with light wear and some patina on the hanger rings. A nice, named example of a Luftwaffe 2nd Model dagger by one of the most well-known makers.
