Description
4/5/24 - This is a very nice example of a Colt Pocket Revolver, dating to 1859 and chambered in .31 Caliber. It has the appearance of a Colt Baby Dragoon with a 6 inch barrel and no loading lever. However, the serial number is too late for a Baby Dragoon, it has a rounded trigger guard, and has a stage coach robbery scene on the cylinder. So it has mostly M1849 attributes, but there is no loading lever, so possibly made with a leftover barrel. The serial numbers are all matching and appear to be original. We could not find any other M1849's with a 6 inch barrel and no loading lever. So this may be a rare variation, or may be put together with leftover Colt parts. Overall in very nice condition with a crisp cylinder scene. Light "attic patina" throughout with some oxidation and pitting around the muzzle. Fitted with nice period-correct wood grips. Fully functional. Excellent bore.Specifications
