Description
4/9/25 - This is a nice example of a Colt Model 1849 Pocket Revolver from 1855. It is completely matching, has a 3" barrel, and is chambered in .31 Caliber. There is a stagecoach robbery scene on the cylinder (roughly 50% visibility). Overall, it is in fair condition for its age, but there is significant finish loss, spotty oxidation, and pin-pricking throughout. Fitted with real ivory grips in excellent condition. There is a series of dings on the butt of the frame - this is common as people often used the butt of the gun as a hammer. Also on the butt of the frame is a faint inscription (see photo). The previous owner left us a note that he believes it says "John Fleiss" of the Adjutant General's Office. We are not able to corroborate that fact and weren't able to find any information on John Fleiss. We did reach out to Colt to order a factory letter, but they told us that it pre-dates factory records. The bore has pretty good rifling, but there is light surface rust throughout. Fully functional. No FFL required.Specifications
