Description
4/18/23 - This is an original Japanese Paratrooper Bayonet, also known as the "Test Type 1" or Type 100 Bayonet. This example is in excellent condition and comes with an original scabbard and leather frog. Research shows these bayonets were supposed to be used similarly to the US M3 knife; this was useful as a side knife and a bayonet. The bayonet features contoured wood grips with 2 screws and washers. The spine of the handle is maker stamped by Toyoda Automatic Loom Works. The bird's head pommel is Nagoya inspector stamped and numbered 185. Excellent wood and bluing throughout. The blade is in minty condition with almost no notable wear and a strong, dark blued finish. The scabbard has similar finish, and is properly tipped with a "squashed ball" or less-round looking tip than the t30 ball tipped scabbards. The leather frog is excellent as well with all original leather and stitching. A high-end example of a scarce WW2 Japanese bayonet.Specifications
