Description
5/20/25 - This is a Colt Pocket Navy Model Cartridge Conversion Revolver in .38 Rimfire, made in 1869 in Hartford, Connecticut. There were about 10,000 of these made using existing percussion revolvers or parts and manufacturing new components to accept cartridges. The factory conversion of Colt’s percussion line coincided with the expiration of the S&W owned Rollin White Patent, from which Smith & Wesson benefitted greatly as they dominated the market for cartridge revolvers for over a decade. This one is the same size as the 1849 pocket and was probably partially assembled from Model 1849 parts. It is all matching and has a "36 Cal" marking overstamping the original "31 Cal" marking on the web of the trigger guard. This gun is in much better condition than most and comes fitted with an excellent set of real ivory grips. Most of the bore is shiny with strong rifling, but there are a few small dots of light surface oxidation here and there. Fully functional. No FFL required.Specifications
