SOLD - Japanese Officer's Sword

Description

7/27/20 - This is an original late WW2 production Japanese Officer's sword. The sword comes with the original scabbard. The katana blade was made by Kanetsugu in 1944. The edge has a few minor nicks / chips, and there is some surface wear near the edge towards the upper portion of the blade. There are also various small spots of oxidation. The hand guard has some mild "play" and can wiggle slightly in place. The mekugi is chipped slightly, and there is some light cracking in the white finish under the wrapping of the handle, but this is minor. The fittings are all original. The scabbard is original and metal for wearing in combat, and only has some minor paint / finish loss as shown in photos.
