SOLD - WW2 1st Marine Division Patch - Australian Made

12/11/24 - This is a great example of a WW2 Australian made 1st Marine Division patch. These patches were designed and requisitioned by the division when they arrived in Australia after they were relieved from the fierce fighting they saw on Guadalcanal. During the Guadalcanal campaign the 1st Marine division suffered immensely losing 650 men in action, 1,278 wounded in action and more than 8,500 men contracted malaria. As a result of this the division updated the design of their logo to include Guadalcanal on the one. These Australian made patches from WW2 are sought after as they are the first examples of this patch to be made, and have become rare over time. This patch has some edge damage and stitching loss, but is still all together. The patch has some staining but the colors and design of the patch are still clearly visible.
