Description
10/23/24 - This is a very good example of a WW1 Grand Duchy of Baden Artillery Officer's Pickelhaube. This pickelhaube is in very good condition with only minor leather shrinking around the brass emblems. The top of this helmet has however, sunk in with age. The top of this pickelhaube is topped with a round ball instead of the traditional spike. The round ball is to represent a cannon ball, thus making this an artillery model. The top mount is missing the front mounting pin. The pickelhaube still has it's original chin strap along with the other brass emblems. There is one area of stitching loss on the pickelhaube on the back left side where the neck cover is coming loose. The front of this pickelhaube has a brass griffin holding a sword and shield with the phrase, "GOTT ZUR EHR DEM N?ÑCHSTEN ZUR WEHR" which means "To God's Glory, Defend Your Neighbor".Specifications
